Q: My child has Faba Disease (G6PD). Can he take Chinese medicine?
A: After years of experience, the Chinese medicine community has mastered Chinese medicines that patients with Faba disease cannot take. Therefore, before allowing children with Faba disease to take Chinese medicine, they must consult a registered Chinese medicine practitioner with profound experience, and do not take medicines that without doctor’s prescription, such as jujube powder and milk tea.
The following are some Chinese medicinal that should not be taken by patients with faba disease: pearl powder, Coptis chinensis, wax plum, bezoar, honeysuckle, Tree Peony Bark, fresh rehmannia root, Bupleurum and Polygonum cuspidatum.
